iPhone app reviews: aSleep

If you have trouble sleeping, aSleep is the app for your iPhone or iPod Touch. You may be thinking, as I did, "How will an app help me fall asleep?" Think of it this way: this app is exactly like those tapes or clocks that play soothing, nature music for you while you are in bed. Somehow, you can naturally fall asleep. Now, at first I was not expecting much from this app. After all, if an app will put me to sleep, why should I pay for it? Could not I find these soothing sounds on the internet and listen to them then?

aSleep is only 99 cents but it saves you a lot of trouble and money in the long run. Not only that, but spending 99 cents on attaining more sleep is worth it. Besides, this app makes use of the iPhone's already available features and it helps you sleep!

Sometimes, I have trouble sleeping because of stress or because I am thinking too much. After all, some people say that we can think the most when we are about to go to sleep. At any rate, it is always important to get as much sleep as possible, and many times we are concerned enough about our health to not use aspirin or sleeping pills any time we feel we are not able to sleep naturally. But then, most likely we would be stuck between a rock and a hard place; we can't sleep but we don't want to use unnatural aids.

This is where aSleep comes in. The developers have done a good job of being creative and coming up with a different kind of app that makes use of the iPhone's (and iPod's) speakers' ability. Now, you do not have to use your fingers at all after you have configured your settings. You can set a timer and you can set the volume and you can also choose from a variety of soothing sounds. The choices and variations of sounds are probably the best features of this app.

Sometimes, however, the app will stop working even before the timer has finished. This may be a bug in the app itself or restarting the device may help. At any rate, the developers should be looking into this problem. Nevertheless, aSleep is a great buy and it will be useful for those nights you just cannot sleep naturally.
