Poetry: The reason he is weak

by S.C. Kleinhans

It was not obvious at first.

He withdrew.

It was a slow process.

No change in the tone of his voice.

The shy smile remained in place.

But that strong man began sliding.

Very slowly.

Into a pit of weakness.

The brain slurred certain things.

The muscles politely sagged.

The body that had belonged to a noble

warrior began a descent into HELL.

Depression?

Disease?

Disorder?

Does it matter now?

He lives between two worlds.

Not knowing where to step or when...
