As a member of Helium, you get to earn payment for the articles you produce. Understanding how to read your Earning and Payment page is important so you can track your articles and determine how to continue increasing page views, thus adding up more pennies as you go. While a penny may not seem like much, several pennies earned on lots of articles adds up quickly. Picture the time honored family penny jar that unexpectedly overflows one day. The same thing happens with your page views on Helium, and before you know it, you're earning more pennies than you ever thought possible.
*Earning Summary: In the top left hand corner of your Helium Earning and Payment page is a simple summary that has calculated your earnings. There are subtitles listed; the active ones will give you more information if you click on them. Your total earnings list your lifetime earnings, changing when necessary. If you've invited anyone who actively earns, you will see profits earned from them below the total earnings. Under these subtitles are adjustments; you can click on this to see a complete breakdown of everything you've earned. It will give you descriptions of those payments. If you've received any payments from Helium, they are listed under your adjustments, and beneath them is your current payment request amount. Finally you will see a solid line and your current account balance, minus any amount presently being processed for payment.
*Upper right side of Earning and Payment page: You will see a running total of donations to charities and a detailed payment policy. It is recommended that you read the policy carefully so you don't miss out on collecting any pennies from your page views.
*Bottom half of page: About half way down the page is your Active Article Earnings list. On the right side of this are column headings that list your monthly earnings, annual earnings, and lifetime earnings. You can refer to each of these columns to gauge how your articles are faring individually, and estimate your progress on Helium.
To the left of the earning columns you will see a box that says, "Filter by Channel". Click on this box to see your earnings pertaining to articles written about specific topics or subjects. The list is prearranged so that you will only see channels hosting your articles in them, and it will increase as you contribute in more areas. Under that is the list of your articles, ranging from the highest earner to the ones that aren't getting page views. Each month, it goes back to zero so you can calculate your monthly page views on your articles.
Tracking your earnings on Helium will help you understand which articles of yours are successful, and which channels you might not want to spend very much time writing for. In the long run, you will get a feel for styles and tones of your that work for people, and ones that might turn people off. This will help you fine tune your writing skills, and learn to use them to provide end user content, instead of merely filling titles and hoping someone notices.
