For most couples the notion of starting a family takes time and a lot of thought. Can they afford children and how will it change their lifestyle? But for some of those couples they have a challenge added to the equation; they can't conceive. They may have tried all the fertility procedures and none of them have worked. Usually they consider what many folks consider as the last option, adopting a child. It shouldn't be looked at as a last resort because there are many benefits of adoption.
Couples that adopt are a little different then those couples that are able to conceive and have children on their own. They have gone through years and years of waiting for that call from their agency or from their lawyer telling them that a mother is considering giving up her child for adoption. They are very eager and ready to devote all their time and effort to raising their new child. The fact that they want to share their lives and give everything they have to a child is a considerable benefit for the child. This isn't it say that a couple who have been able to conceive won't also share the same feelings but the adopted couple, who have gone through so much, would work very hard to give their new child all the love and nurturing that it needs and then some.
While this is a sad time for the biological mother, this can also be a time for a new beginning for her. She made a very difficult decision to give up her child, but this decision allows her to make changes in her life that in the long run will be beneficial to her. Raising a child at this time in her life wasn't something that she thought that she could handle and this gives her the freedom that she needs.
But the greatest benefit goes to the adopting parents. After years of waiting and years of worrying if they would ever be parents, their dreams are fulfilled. During those years of waiting they had to wonder if they should just give up their dreams and move on with their life. Adoption now-a-days is not easy and the wait can definitely be for many years. And when the child is born the worrying doesn't stop because the biological mother has a certain number of days to change her mind, this differs from state to state.
But all that waiting and worrying is easily forgotten when you see and hold that child in your arms because you are the child's parent, which means you will experience all the highs and lows that come with being a parent.
