Poetry: Again

by S.C. Kleinhans

A wicked world at war.

Reluctant soldiers

doomed to fulfill

a painful chore.

Death was

no longer taboo.

This dreadful

concept was

hardly new.

Bodies piled up

on top of each other.

Every family had lost

a son or a brother.

Humanity had failed again.

Three more global conflicts

would soon begin.

Any chance of resolution

had already worn too thin.

Gigantic pools of fresh blood.

A vinegary volcanic flood.

Bloodied bodies soon reached

the seething sun and sky.

As the weakened world asked WHY?

Humanity had failed once again.
