Chronic pain causes severe, unrelenting fatigue that interferes with a person's daily activities. I personally experience chronic pain daily. The result is fatigue from trying to deal with the pain. I have difficulty concentrating and thinking clearly thereby affecting my self-esteem. I lost my job because of my chronic pain. I have to take morphine to take the edge of the pain. There are many ways to deal with this pain. I have researched and read about how different people deal with their everyday pain. I believe it is a personal experience that is only understood by those that suffer from chronic pain. Many people combat this pain in their own personal way. One reason I have a Blog and write articles on Helium is because it allows me to plan, set goals and helps my self-esteem. While it is part of my healing process, I hope and pray that my articles reach and help others too.
You have to set goals, engage in some type of exercise or physical activity, make lifestyle adjustments, learn to deal with the stress and depression caused from the constant pain. Relationships, Intimacy, and Sexuality are also affected.
I want to encourage anyone suffering from chronic pain to try to build healthy relationships with your Health Care Provider, Family and Friends. If you already have a healthy relationship, cherish it and try to avoid thinking about your pain. It does help to try and help others, focus on what other people need. The mind and body work together in signaling messages that enable us to be alert, respond to our surroundings, and make the most of our good thoughts and experiences. Having a good healthy attitude helps. It is O.K. to feel sad, angry, etc., just please remember to deal with these feelings. Keep a journal, pray, write an article, stay in touch with people and remember you are not alone.
Please share your experience with us and help yourself too.
