The title alone should send shivers down the spine of any open minded person. A great many humans on this planet have created in their minds this idea of who "God" might be. Quite a few are adamant there is no -might- about it. As far as they are concerned God is real - he looks and thinks like they believe to be true and there is no wiggle room for discussion on the flip side of the debate; for them there is no debate. There are others who do not believe in a god of any kind; each have an opinion about what is found in the history books; each will voice their opinion succinctly or deign not to acknowledge the obvious gaff.
The question begs thought regardless of one's belief system. An educated human can search for the originator of any thing or any thought if they work hard enough and have the proper resources. It is difficult enough to encapsulate the idea of god into any kind of box if logic is the base for your mode of reasoning. Science is the most grounded in empirical evidence to prove theory. Yet there have been some very famous scientists who clearly admit that despite the lack of hard evidence that god exists, the overwhelming evidence that god does exist cannot be disputed. Humans can create things; they can be very clever with their ideas. Does it ever occur to them that the idea had to come from somewhere other than their brain? Science understands how the brain works but they have yet to explain how original thoughts forms. Connecting the pieces together to form the whole is only part of the equation.
In all the writings that have a reference to god - be they "fact" or fiction - have most of the time patterned god with some human traits. This is generally based on a reference in the Christian works that says man was made in god's image. When you get into the fiction side of it then there is a little more creativity in the process of describing god. Many of the gods that were in existence before Christianity were really quite fearsome to look at and hear about. The fascination with gods and other immortal powerful beings has intrigued humans down throughout our history. We each and everyone of us know that we are mortal and many of us think it would be grand to live longer than we do. For most of us it is hard to imagine getting old and frail and living several hundred years in that state. Clearly humans were designed to be temporary.
I took a stab at re-writing the history of mankind and giving some definition to god. In my version god was female
