The creation of Facebook was somewhat of a turning point in on-line communities. It seems more polished than MySpace and it has many features that make users spend much more time on-line with their account than they would with MySpace.
The quizzes, games, and interaction between users make Facebook the community to be part of. Sure, it's still a place where you post your photos, and where you get to chat and leave comments like every online community out there. So what makes Facebook better than MySpace, or better than the other communities? The freedom you have with Facebook, the games and activities you can do with all of your friends, the chance of meeting people from all over the world. Again, every on-line community does this right?
The thing is, Facebook doesn't slow down computers, like many on-line communities do, because of add-ons on users pages, too many graphics on the page, and we've all seen this happen. Plus, you can just leave a short message on your wall to let people know what you're up to.
Is this enough to make Facebook better than MySpace? It seems as it is. As with every community, we have to be careful as to what we place on our profile, but the privacy settings on Facebook seem to be the best yet. If you block someone from contacting you, that person stays blocked, that's a fact. The amount of quizzes and activities you have of Facebook make for some time well spent, since most of us are stressing about work, college, or any other issue, it's refreshing to have a place to go and just relax.
You can take a quiz and place the result on your profile, you have some applications that work as a fortune teller, most of the times it makes people laugh with what comes out, and that is something we need and should have.
The amount of users joining Facebook seems to have surpassed those who joined MySpace. It's almost as if MySpace has become obsolete since the creation of Facebook. You can even find job opportunities on the Facebook community, even some old friend with whom you haven't spoke to in years, and even family members. Facebook strikes people as the place to be, and you can post pretty much anything on your profile, and even take photos directly to Facebook, with the web cam feature. Now isn't that something?
MySpace isn't the most reliable of communities, nor the most reliable website. It wouldn't be the first time that the login wouldn't work, or the web browser would freeze, or the site itself would be down. As for Facebook, I have no knowledge on it ever failing to deliver to this day.
The best way to find out which is best is to actually visit both of them. 9 times out of 10 people join Facebook instead of MySpace, at least now. Still, we can't overlook that it's still an on-line community, and it has it's dangers, so if anyone does join Facebook or MySpace, one has to be extremely careful not to attract the wrong kind of attention.
