It is your first date and you want to impress the lady so that she wants to see you again. You hope that this first date will lead to many more and you may also be hoping that it leads to a long term serious committed relationship. The first date is crucial then in getting across a good first impression by saying and doing the right things and not saying or doing wrong things that get her disinterested in you, especially as you will not be given another opportunity to get her interested in you.

Whatever sort of woman you are dating, there are some things it is wise to remember if you want to see her again:

* Always offer to take her somewhere that she would like to go to, maybe giving her a choice of several places that are within traveling distance and within your budget. If you know she is very keen on art then maybe suggest you go to an art gallery. Show that you are concerned that she enjoys the evening. Do not expect her to go wherever you choose just because it suits you. You may be very keen on baseball but you should not expect her to want to go and watch a game with you just because it is your type of thing.

* Not offering to pay for the evening. Even if the woman feels more comfortable with paying half and "going Dutch" it is nice for you to offer, it shows you are generous, considerate and not mean. Women cannot stand men who are mean or who have to watch the pennies so much that they have to wonder what a loser they are. If you cannot afford to pay for the evening the lady will wonder about your finances and if you have money problems, not many women are happy to date someone who seems to have financial problems.

* Not being flexible about when your first date is. If the lady you are asking out has been busy working all day and does not get home until eight in the evening then it might be expecting too much to ask her to meet you on the same day after working a very long shift, be willing to arrange to see her on one of the days she is not working instead.

* Not offering to pick her up from her home or wherever she prefers and make sure she gets home again safely at the end of the evening. This shows you are thoughtful and considerate. If you do not drive offer to pay for a taxi there and back.

* Do not keep checking your mobile looking at texts and texting or answering calls. It is a date, you are spending the evening with her. Turn the phone off and leave it till after, it is rude not to. Give her your full attention.

* You are making a big mistake if you do not show interest in whatever it is she wishes to talk about, whether this be a hobby, her work or something which is worrying her. Women love to talk and share how they feel and what they think. If you can come across as caring and concerned and friendly you are half way there.
