My students learn to work with medical records and the processes of insurance and reimbursement. The class concentrates "on the background, knowledge and skills related to basic billing duties, HIPAA regulations, patient encounters, and the preparation, compliance and transmission of claims." Once a student passes this class, he will move on to other classes that cover medical records processing, learning the rules of billing for private payers, Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, CHAMPVA, workers compensation and disability, along with claims processing.
