How negativity affects your relationship

If you are a sunny person with a great disposition about life and can handle everything that is thrown at you efficiently and with a minimum of drama, you are a joy to be around and anyone would be delighted to be your spouse, your friend, your child, or sibling.

Perhaps you are the type that can separate emotions from a situation and set in motion the necessary actions to resolve the problems and move forward with your life. You may also be someone who does not allow their future to be held hostage by past events. You are not stuck in a rut and insist on living life to the fullest. You are grateful for the small things and jump for joy when things are going great.

What if your loved one is Eeyore? Oh Dear! For people like this, every cloud has a black lining threatening a storm for which they are unprepared for; they view every family gathering as a siege on their emotional well being. Every job interview is another job they won't get, so why bother? Raising a family fills them with dread of years of dedication and expenses.

For these individuals, work is a dreaded, mundane activity that leaves them drained. A vacation is a source of complaining about the food, the water, the locals, the expense, the heat/humidity and you. Being around a negative partner will ruin the most exquisite vacation or family reunion not to mention a good relationship.

Ruling out chronic depression or any other medical and mental issues, all we got left is a type of personality that literally will suck the life out of you and your relationship Below are some ways that negativity affects your relationships, your health and social life.

*Health

Negativity causes stress and depression. Stress releases hormones such as Cortisol which regulate the metabolic system and play an active role in weight gain Depression causes the "happy" chemical receptors in our brain to go dormant and release Norepinphrine which is a hormone associated with depression and high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is referred to as the "silent killer" and its effects on the cardio vascular system can be devastating even when caught before the onset of a massive heart attack or stroke.

Premature aging and graying is a sure sign of too much stress and negativity in our lives. The body is depleted of necessary nutrients and the system tries to cope by taking what it needs from other areas, such as skin, hair, bones and muscle tissue.
