Everyone who enjoys a cold beer enjoys a cold beer even more if it's in a frosty mug; other than keeping your beer cold, there's just something about the feel of the frost on your lips and in your hand that adds to your beer-drinking experience.
A simple but effective way to not only keep your beer cold, but to impress your guests is to serve beer in a frosted mug. It is so simple to do, and so very enjoyable - and you don't even have to shell out big bucks for a glass froster!
The 4 simple steps to frosting a beer mug are:
1. Clear a spot in your freezer and start with clean glass mugs. Mugs with thicker glass tend to frost better, so the thicker the glass, the better the effect will be.
2. Dip each mug into cool water, making sure it is completely submerged. Pour out any water that gets into the mug, but don't shake excess water off or dry the mugs! *Make sure that your glasses are cool before you start, or you'll end up with cracked mugs!
3. Set your mugs upright in the freezer, leaving some space between them so they frost evenly and don't stick together.
4. Wait for frost to form, pop the top on your favorite beer, pour, and enjoy!
*Note: Frosted shot glasses are also an impressive, fun way to spice up your party!
If you're pressed for time, fill each mug with ice, then water (crushed ice works best, because it fills the glass more evenly, and you'll get a faster, more even frost), and stir constantly until the condensation on the outside of the glass freezes. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes of stirring to coat your glass in a nice, thick frost. Carefully pour the ice water into the next mug, fill the frosted one with beer, and serve.
Frosted beer mugs keep well, so frost a few and leave them in the freezer so you can enjoy an ice cold beer whenever you want! Gone are the days of having to go to a bar to enjoy a beer in a frosty mug, or having to spend hundreds, or even thousands of dollars on a glass/mug froster!
Frosted mugs are also a great treat for the kids! Serving root beer or an ice cream float in a frosted mug is a fun way to add excitement to a summer treat!
