If you have a fisherman in your life, then buying Christmas gifts that really mean something to them has never been easier. New technology and an ever increasing wealth of diversity and imagination in fishing gear has made picking the hottest fishing gear for Christmas 2009 anything but a fishy situation. And, there's no need to scale back on the gifts, as there are lots of new fishing gear, like weedless and deep-diving lures, bug-free and waterproof clothing, fish finders and rod-holders that act like remote controlled fishing boats to intrigue and please the fisherman in your life that are fairly inexpensive.

The "Aviva Fishing Buddy" is a small, remote controlled sport fishing boat, that trolls a line behind it, while the fisherman sits on the shorelines with the remote control. Another offering in the remote controlled fishing gear product line is the fishing buddy. It is a life-preserver crossed with an inner tube, with a mesh seat to sit in the middle of the tube. The fisherman moves either with a small trolling motor (the fishing buddy has a trolling motor mount), or with swimming flippers.

One hot item new for this upcoming Christmas, which falls in the "why didn't I think of that" category, are new weights that are shaped and painted like small baitfish. Draw your fish closer to the bait with a weight, replacing the need for spoons above the bait. Mostly used for bottom feeders and lunker trout, bass or walleye, which commonly school on the bottom of the water body. Buying a mixed-pack of four different fish species weights, in 2 to 4 different sizes, would be a great, and quite inexpensive gift for your favourite fisherman.

Clothing, fishing vests, waders (either chest or waist waders, depending on the depth of water your fisherman walks into, or his personal preference), bug-free clothing (entire body), fishing hats with attachments to hold favourite lures and flies, and polarized sunglasses are all some of Christmas 2009's hottest fishing gear for presents. Of course, no fisherman would feel put out with a new fishing boat with trailer, twin 200-horse outboard motors, live wells and a dining/sleeping cabin.

You can simply look inside your fisherman's tackle box, see what types of lures he prefers, and gather a few similar lures from his favourite tackle shop. Most fishermen do have a favourite tackle shop, and they will have a hat, t-shirt or jacket from that store. If you do go to their favourite store, the clerk or owner may even know your favourite fisherman, and be able to help you to score major brownie points with the perfect gift.

The hottest fishing gear for Christmas 2009 would most likely be whatever you buy your fisherman for Christmas. He will use it, and if he catches fish with it, it will be one of the best gifts that you ever gave him.
