ADDICTED TO GOSSIP GIRL
"Good morning Upper East Siders, Gossip Girl here, you're one and only guide to Manhattan's elite." The quote that started it all. Gossip Girl is a television series based from the book of the same name.
The story revolves around teen socialites in New York. You may wonder why people would be addicted to the upper-class snobs, but that's just the point. People watch it because they feel even when separated to the good life, that they can somehow relate with the problems of today's generation. Parties, mixers, formals, not the typical teenage life but it applies to it in a way of fitting in. Today's generation is all about fitting in. So why the gossips? To make people feel better from what they are doing and what they have done. Gossip girl is a show that even a person without any bad grain in his or her body would love to see catfights, sabotages and scandals. That is the best part of it. It doesn't have to be a reality show to see that it is real. This is what's really going on.
It is also obvious that Gossip Girl's target audience is for girls but even guys get hooked. This is because of their amazing cast. The guys in Gossip Girl show what its like to have everything. This tells something more about their ego, that's why guys are automatically hooked. I have heard guys label it as for the "chicks", but once they start they just can't stop.
Another reason why people are addicted is because of the mystery. We are all about the gossip but what we do not know is that we're also about the mystery of who Gossip Girl is. When we look at it, wherever we are and whoever we are, there's always a Gossip Girl in us and that is why we are addicted to it. We see her as a figure of ourselves, of wanting to know what's happening with everybody else.
Watching Gossip Girl can be very sinful but still we are never guilty because of the fact that it is just a show but how we love watching Serena and Blair at war, Chuck's dirty deeds, Dan's attitude of not caring, Little J's way of fitting in and Nate's awesome locks only shows that inside we do want to be a part of them, that there is more to life on the other side of life.
