Bulletin board ideas: Delaware

Delaware has played an important part in the United States' history, but its full history and other facts are often not known to students who live outside of this particular state. Fortunately, all American primary school teachers have the opportunity to use their bulletin boards for a good purpose. Because bulletin boards can easily spread information within a classroom, you can use your bulletin board to inform your students about the history of Delaware, as well as about other fun facts. The following article will help you create a Delaware-themed bulletin board.

These instructions can be used for other topics and other states.

First, you will need to decorate the bulletin board. You can do this by adding colorful background paper or by adding a border or trim. All of these materials can be found at arts and crafts stores or at teaching supply stores. They are generally inexpensive. You can also find manufacturers and sellers online.

Always attach the components of the bulletin board using thumbtacks, not staples or glue.

Next, you will need to put all the information that you want onto the board. For instance, the history of the state is a very relevant section of the board. Delaware's history is rich. It has played an important part in ratifying the United States Constitution, and it is one of the smallest states in the Union (although it has played big roles in the country's history). Remember that the bulletin board must quickly convey its message and information. Try to write the history using bulleted sentences and paragraphs.

Additionally, you will want to include fun facts. These make up a wonderful section of the board that is often very interesting to the majority of your students. Fun facts are usually not considered historical facts. They are facts that are less well-known, or they may be quirky. The resources at the end of the article will help you find some great websites that offer fun facts.

Finally, you will need to put up pictures of the state. Whether they are of landmarks, famous people, or even just the state's flag, pictures make a great addition to the bulletin board and usually help attract more attention.

When you are finished with the bulk of the information, you will need to add a title that catches attention. This is usually done using cut out letters.
