Nebraska has a rich history that is often untaught except in some Nebraska schools. However, it is every primary American school teacher's responsibility to teach as much as possible about the 50 states that make up the Union. Nebraska has undoubtedly played an important part in America's history. Luckily, a bulletin board is a great way to teach about this state without having to actually teach your students. A bulletin board is efficient and is capable of spreading information quickly and easily. The following article will help you create a Nebraska-themed bulletin board.
First, you will need to attach a trim or border to the bulletin board. You can easily make your own borders, but it is often easier to purchase them from online distributors or from educational supplies stores. However, if you do not have access to any of these convenient shopping options, you can make borders using materials from arts and crafts stores.
Nebraska, like all of the states and like all places in the world, has its own unique history. You will most likely have to write down the history of this state using short and concise sentences and paragraphs, especially since you do not want to bore your students with a lengthy account of Nebraska's history. So, use bulleted short paragraphs and sentences instead of block-style ones. Doing so will make reading and learning from the bulletin board easier and faster.
Next, you will also need to include a fun facts section. This is perhaps one of the best sections of the bulletin board because it always offers facts that most people do not know. Many of the facts are ones that people do want to know. For example, "Lincoln's 59-mile O Street is the longest Main Street in the nation" (1). This is not a historical fact but it is a fun one, so it can be considered a fun fact.
Pictures can also make your bulletin board very interesting. You can include pictures of famous landmarks or of the state's capital. You can find these pictures online and print them out, or you can photocopy pictures from textbooks. Additionally, you can also use actual photographs. Use thumbtacks to attach the pictures (and all other components) to the bulletin board.
If you need to find more information, the following resources will easily give you plenty of historical information, fun facts, images, and other relevant information that you may want to include on the bulletin board. You can also give these resources to your students if they want to find out more information about Nebraska.
