Bulletin board ideas: Vermont

A bulletin board is an educational tool that can easily spread information in your classroom. This is why most bulletin boards are used to display newsletters and pieces of news, as well as advertisements and rules and guidelines. Because of this purpose, bulletin boards are a great way to teach your students without having to physically them yourself. The following article will help you create a Vermont-themed bulletin board. However, the following instructions can be amended for use with other topics.

To make your bulletin board as neat looking as possible, you will need to decorate it in an appealing and interesting way. For instance, adding a trim or border to your bulletin board will help draw attention to the middle of the board, making the board even more efficient. You can usually find these borders for sale at educational supply stores, or you can order them online. They are generally inexpensive and they can be used many times. Use thumbtacks to attach the trim to the board.

Next, you will need to decide what kind of information should be included. The most effective bulletin board will undoubtedly have a "history" section as well as a "fun facts" or "places to go" section. These can all be included, however. The history section should not be too long and neither should it be too concise. A bulletin board is supposed to allow your students to learn something quickly. You don't want twenty or more kids standing around your bulletin board at one time, trying to read a section that is too long. So, use bulleted short sentences and paragraphs.

The "fun facts" section consists of facts that are not very well-known, or facts that seem quirky or interesting. For example, the name of Vermont's governor is not a fun fact. That is a fact that should go under the history section. Instead, knowing Vermont's state bird, for example, would be a fun fact.

Pictures should also be included, since they can mean "a thousand words" and often attract more attention than words. You can either print pictures from the internet or you can photocopy pictures from textbooks. Additionally, you can use actual photographs.

The following resources will help you find fun facts, historical information, images, as well as other interesting information about the state of Vermont. Again, you can use these instructions for other topics and other states, too.
