When you are looking at magic the gathering set decks there are two ways to judge the value, the first is to base the value on the value of the cards, and the second is to base it on how much fun the deck, or in the case of this product how the two decks play against each others.

The product Garruk vs. Liliana costs 19.99 and has two decks of sixty cards each. At the heart of the value of this are the two mythic rare planeswalkers Garruk Wildspeaker and Liliana Vess. These come in foil and alternate artwork. With the difficulty of getting mythic rare cards it is worth considering the possibility of getting the decks because of this, but the cost of buying the cards singularly goes down. This is part of the reason that these are two of the lower cost planeswalkers. And if you look you can buy them for four or five dollars each. This means that if you would otherwise buy these cards it raises the value of the decks by about ten dollars.

In addition to the two planeswalkers the other cards are pulled from numerous sets and many of of them are quite good. In fact these are two of the better pre-made decks made available by wizards of the coast.

This leads to the second question how the two decks play against each other. And they generally play quite well against each other, with the green deck being a bit more explosive with cards such as overrun while the black deck is able to build up a little slower but is likely to win longer games. In addition having both decks be mono color makes it far more likely that new players will be able to play the cards that they draw which is quite useful.

For an experienced player this is very simple matter of looking through the list and seeing if the value of the cards is worth the price of the cards. The real value of this though is in introducing new players to the game of magic and for that it is a great jump start, helping people to really see what cards are good as well as giving them a great many cards that they will use in many good decks in the future.

As a stand alone product that requires nothing else this is a fun pair of decks which will give you many hours of fun and if you decide to play more you have a good start for any other green or black deck.
