"Prowess of the Fair" is a black enchantment printed as an uncommon for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Lorwyn." This is one of the numerous cards printed in the Lorwyn block that encourage players to build around a theme of creatures. In respects to Prowess of the Fair, players are encouraged to build around the theme of elves. You may want to play a multicolored elf deck let alone one with black and green cards.
The converted mana cost for Prowess of the Fair is two. You will need one black mana and one colorless mana to play Prowess of the Fair. For what Prowess of the Fair can do, the converted mana cost is well worth it. Keep in mind that Prowess of the Fair is an enchantment spell. It means that Prowess of the Fair is susceptible to anything and everything that affects enchantments.
What does Prowess of the Fair do in the first place?
As long as Prowess of the Fair is on the battlefield, you get to put a 1/1 green elf warrior token onto the battlefield whenever a nontoken elf of yours gets sent to the graveyard. Should you lose an elf, you gain a 1/1 elf warrior in response. So far, there are ways to milk Prowess of the Fair for all it is worth for the most part. The printed text of Prowess of the Fair's ability is very simple enough for the most part.
One method would be using the sorcery known as "Elvish Promenade." Elvish Promenade allows you to put a 1/1 green elf warrior token for each elf you control. If enough 1/1 green elf warriors are produced via Prowess the Fair, you can use Elvish Promenade to make that many more 1/1 green elf warriors. In a black and green deck, you can combine Prowess of the Fair with Elvish Promenade.
Also, combine this with "Bramblewood Paragon." Bramblewood Paragon puts a +1/+1 counter on each warrior that enters the battlefield. Those 1/1 green elf warrior tokens produced via Prowess of the Fair would get a +1/+1 counter. Creatures with a +1/+1 counter would get Trample.
You can also use "Rhys the Redeemed" to make copies of your token creatures. In this respect, you can make tokens that are copies of those 1/1 green elf warrior tokens produced via Prowess of the Fair.
Overall, Prowess of the Fair seems to be a good card provided you have elves. Also, combine this with "Volrath's Stronghold" to bring dead creatures back to your library. Make sure you have cards with abilities that compliment Prowess of the Fair.
