Why you should try to eat less fast food

There is no real nutritional benefit in fast food. It is loaded with sodium, and could lead to many diseases and illnesses. We do not have to cut it out of our diets completely, but it is time for everyone to cut back in the amount of fast food that they eat. Always remember, moderation is the key to anything and everything.

Like I said, fast food has so much salt in it. Even if you hold one french fry from McDonald's, you could really see the salt glistening off of the fry, especially if it is a sunny day. Then, it also gets onto your fingers. Along with messing up your outsides, too much salt consumption could lead to heart disease, high cholesterol, and hypertension. These conditions almost always lead to a heart attack or a stroke if not monitored completely. Fast food also has many deep-fried specials. These could also lead to those life-threatening conditions. I admit that McDonald's has some of the best french fries, but try to limit yourself to not more than 1-2 times a week if you are trying to monitor your salt intake.

It has also been proven that fast food may cause cancer. The way that foods are deep-fried at such a high temperature causes some carcinogens to form. This has not been proven to be 100% correct, but it is all I need to hear to cut out my fast food intake. All of the carbohydrate choices are not made with whole grains. They are the refined flour carbohydrates. As we all know, these do not have any fiber in them, and fiber helps to control blood sugar spikes. Refined flour also makes you gain weight, since blood sugar levels that fluctuate lead to weight gain, because you feel hungry so soon after eating. Weight gain is also a major contributor to Type II diabetes. There are so many health reasons to cut back on fast food consumption that I could write all day, but I will not. I know that you get the idea.

Fast food slows you down. It sounds like an oxymoron, but it is true. The refined flour makes you feel tired, and so does the sugar in the flour, and the salt. I am the type of person who gets bloated from sugar and salt, so this is one negative drawback of fast food. When you are bloated, you gain weight, but this is because of the bloating. It is still not a pleasant feeling.

Slowly replace you fast food meals with bag lunch (if you work). If you mostly have fast food for dinner, cook healthy meals that do not need alot of preparation. This means food that could be boiled or heated up, like canned or frozen vegetables, dried or canned beans, soups, whole-wheat pasta, brown rice, and wild salmon. There are not the fancy dinner dishes you would cook for a dinner party. They take no more than a half hour to make. Take this advice as a step towards a healthier you.
