Christmas shopping... two words that can make a person shudder and a wallet cringe. Instead of wasting time finding parking in the crowded parking lots, fighting your way through the crowds, and waking up before sunrise to for the sales just do your Christmas shopping online.
Not only does shopping online save you the headaches of traffic and crowds, but it offers tons more options. You can find all the same, if not more, products at your favorite store's website. Walmart, for instance, has many products that are available only online. In stores, if the size or color of an item you are looking for is out of stock, chances are it will still be available online.
If shipping is making you reluctant to shop online, many more websites are offering flat shipping or special shipping rates for the holidays. Zappos.com offers free shipping of your product, as well as free shipping to return it if you are not satisfied with it. Overstock.com offers one dollar standard shipping on any purchase. One tip that most don't think to do is to sign up for the website's newsletter. Although there are times when they will be general emails about sales and products, there will be time when they send electronic codes for online sales and shipping discounts.
Shopping online also gives you the opportunity to find very unique gift items that aren't your typical holiday gifts. Where locally can you find an LED Jellyfish Mood Lamp or Ninja Star Push Pins? There are numerous sites that one can order very random and creative gifts, or hand-crafted items from other cities and independent designers. For an extremely unique gift, find sites that you can personalize items with your own messages or pictures. Online shopping lets you add a more personal touch to your Christmas shopping with being able to find just the right thing for the right person.
To help make the holiday shopping even more of a convenience online, many sites offer gift wrapping. So not only can you avoid the holiday traffic and mad mobs, but now you won't have to lift a finger to wrap gifts. Online shopping for Christmas is my preferred method. In the time it would take me to fight traffic to get to the mall, I would have already browsed through five stores online from the comfort of my own home with a cup of hot chocolate.
