This year parents will be looking for the most reasonably-priced toys for their children, but because most kids watch television; they want the latest models of toys. They want what the other children have; not a toy that has been around for several years.
Some toys are still "hot" items, for example, according to ToysRUs.com; the original Fisher-Price Tickle Me Elmo is still in demand for 2009. So you won't go wrong by purchasing that toy.
There are some new items: for example, Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters is a new toy that goes by the names: Squiggles,Chunk, Numnums, and Pipsqueak.
The Playskool Tonka Chuck Talking Truck is another toy that a young boy between the ages of two and six would enjoy. The truck has 40 phrases and sounds, for example; "Time to Find some dirt," is one of the phrases. The toy requires three C-batteries.
Fisher-Price's Laugh and Learn Learning Farm is an educational toy for both boys and girls ages two through six.
Leap Frog Text and Learn offers a free toy if you buy two. This is a good buy as an educational resource that you can share with other family member's children or a friend.
Target.com shares their best for 2009. The Indycar hotwheels is listed at $24.99. They also include the Hummer for $19.99. For the boy ten-years and older; you would not go wrong in sharing this gift.
They also offer the Mattell Barbie doll for $14.99 as a hot item for 2009.
Although they share the Nerf N-Strike Raider Rapid Fire CS-35 Blaster with Darts - This is not recommended even for the older children because of it's danger. Although warnings are given; many children will play with this game unsupervised and could possibly harm other people.
For the young girl; the doll; Little Mommy Baby Ah-Choo, is a new item.
For those old enough to use coloring books; Toys R Us offers Crayola Beginnings Color Me A Song. There are eight washable crayons. The speed of the scribbles will determine the pace of the music. The faster the child colors the more the tempo increases. This toy is recommended for 24 months old and up. It uses three AA batteries.
The Talking Action Figures are still around; however, Disney Pixar has added some new ones.
There is a new African American doll called Alexis offered by Liv Fashion.
Of course, Barbie remains as a best seller. She has been updated to include Disco Ball Teresa, Country Rock, and others.
Star Wars continues to be on the list for the older children. For example, there is a turbo tank vehicle, as well as other new toys by LEGO. They even offer some Galactic Heroes at the two-for-one price.
For the pre-teen; the hot items is Transformers of all types. They range from as low as $4.99 to $39.00 for the Revenge of the Fallen which includes a three-pack.
The greatest thing about shopping at Toys R Us in person is that you can request to speak with an Associate who will assist you with the latest toys for 2009. As grandparents, uncles, and aunts of children or teens; it is impossible to keep up with what children want or see on television. You do not want to send a Barbie doll, for example, across country that is outdated, or the child had that same one years ago. Do use the Associates there.
