Several years ago I was pulled out of a long dark depression by simply watching a man speak on public television. I had never heard of him and rarely found cause to watch PBS. The message Dr. Wayne Dyer had was simple, but for me -profound. He validated something in me I had once believed but had lost along the way in my work as a professional. He opened a window in my life and with the sweet fresh air of grace and understanding came a twinkling toward enlightenment. A few years later Oprah would introduce me and millions of other people to the work of Eckhart Tolle and his book - A New Earth. It was then that the door burst open and enlightenment was more fully realized. I knew his work to be the truth and could not understand my low grade level of discomfort.
I was not willing to give up my new world view, despite my misgivings; perhaps if I actually heard what Mr. Tolle had to say about the work he had shared, I would understand the source of my discontent. I watched the twelve week web-cast with millions of other people as Oprah and Eckhart reviewed each chapter of the book. What I learned is that Mr. Tolle is perfectly comfortable and confident in what he understands and shares with the rest of us. The message remained vivid to me; what was also clear was the number of people who took exception to the work and even went so far as to call Mr. Tolle the devil and Oprah his pawn. I knew there had to be a way to get the message out and ideas were boiling in my mind and heart. The intensity was such that I found myself writing my own version of the message in a book of fiction. I do not consider myself to be a messenger or a spiritual teacher, but I do think the message reveals itself to any who open themselves to it. Along with the message comes the urge to share it. I find myself looking at others to see who else hears the message and feels the need to share.
I am always intrigued by the different people who are messengers - and may not be aware of it. Many obvious messengers have come down through the centuries - some of them remain famous today. Book writers and movie makers have the message carefully embedded in many of their works - especially in the last few years; perhaps they are fully aware of this perhaps not. For the enlightened the message is clear and cannot be ignored. Probably the most surprising messenger -for me- is Michael Jackson. All I knew about him was that he was a wonderful entertainer who happened to be unlucky enough to get twisted
