Decorating a Christmas tree is so much fun for everyone. Even those who do not possess an ounce of artistic talent can succeed in creating a Christmas tree that is a work of art.
Deciding on a theme for your Christmas tree is the greatest challenge, for each year the decorations available for purchase become more intricate and clever.
Some tree decorators like to express their individuality by making their own ornaments, or using collections of favorite things to decorate the tree.
There is no hard, fast rule about what constitutes the ideal Christmas tree. Choosing a theme is a good way to begin, if you are decorating your first tree, or seeking a new look for your old tree.

A fishing enthusiast might opt to fill his tree with all items related to fishing. A golfer, skier, or tennis enthusiast, might do the same. Whatever sport you favor, adding a few miniature trophies, medals and blue ribbons will spice up your sport-themed tree.

Lacy angels, snowflakes and pure white, shiny ornaments will state romance loud and clear.
Another way to exude romance is to opt for bright jeweled tones of purple, silver or gold and create a monochromatic tree. String fake pearls in lieu of traditional beads and place huge fake diamond rings in pivotal places for a whimsical visual.
* Country theme
Plaid bows, wood ornaments, birdhouses, gingham or patchwork accessories, all exude a country Christmas. Get real with strung popcorn or cranberries. White paper cutouts of snowflakes, angels and geometric patterns will conjure up the good old days, when ornaments were homemade.
Another country look is to combine red and white checked ribbon with gingerbread men and ginger cookies cut into bells and stars. A striped candy cane on the tip of each branch will round out your cozy country tree.
* Fantasy tree
