Best rainy day activities for adults

So you you want to get more enjoyment out of those rainy days? Maybe you just need something to do inside. Either way there are many ways to spend some quality time indoors.

One great way to spend that rainy down time is to play some games, and chances are you know someone else who needs some rainy day enjoyment as well.

Card games are a great way to burn that boredom out of the air. A quick internet search can find any number of card game rules ranging from solitaire games to massive party games. Also, if you've grown bored with standard card games there are hundreds of special card game decks that you can purchase at most comic, card, and game stores and not all of them require you to buy several "booster packs" to enjoy.

One example is the dungeons adventure parody card game (no knowledge of D&D required, it just pokes fun at the entire dungeon explorer genre) munchkin, it comes in one box (although there are expansion sets) that contains hours of lighthearted fun.

If you're in more of a solitary mood you can always play some video games, flash games and videos are always a great way to relax on the Internet. Newgrounds holds a massive selection of games and videos where you can find anything from fan-created music videos to epic game sagas. Newgrounds places spotlighted videos and games on the front page, but it also has a search function and a "Portal" where it lists the most popular and newest entries.

However seeing as the content on Newgrounds is user-submitted it ranges from child-friendly (There She Is! is very fun and heartwarming) to the very much not child-friendly (Madness Combat is absurdly violent). Many movies and video games are parodied on the site so go ahead and give a search for your favorite franchise but be sure to look at the rating before you decide to launch the video or game so you know what to expect.

Another great solitary way to spend your rainy days is to get creative or learn. Draw, write, or maybe learn to do something you've always wanted to do. It's never too late, and you've got time to kill right?

I know it sounds hokey, but YouTube has a vast variety of how-to videos. ExpertVillage for example has over one hundred thousand videos from how to eat fire (Although I would try learning that one inside) to making homemade skin care products.

Lastly but absolutely not least would be to read a book. I know, It's crazy talk in this screen based world. Nonetheless, in total seriousness and sanity, turn off that TV, turn off that computer, and spend some quality time with a good book. Google books will let you preview books and gives links to buy them, or better yet head down to your local library.
