Classic books that were banned from schools and why

A moderate approach;
I think that we still have the ability as parents to reach these novels on a personal level in places like, Hastings, Barnes and Noble, and Borders. Whats even more, we have the power as parents to give our children the enlightenment to read such novels as,
A day no Pigs would die,
Gone with the Wind,
Cath-22,
A Cather in the Rye,
To Kill a Mockingbird,

And other novels that have provided certain controversial arguments in the past. And not to mention, the ones that will provide arguments in the future.
Lets face it, we are a society based on Bias.
I grew up in a racial atmosphere where the only black family in town was run out because they didnt want there kids living together.
The civil rights movement was real. Denying children the chance to read these books is racial in its own right. My child will read them I am sure. In fact the intellectual child that I went to school with, including myself, read the books we were instructed not to.
Want to take those books out of the libraries? Oh well, they will have them in the public libraries, luckily colleges teach certain lectures based on certain theories and ideas set forth in these novels. They will have to keep them in public libraries so that we can still research in the future.
So if your the opposition to this, I warn you, you may be able to ban books from the schools but you will never be able to ban the open mind. Your child will read the books you don't want them to.
I have a friend in particular who never read schindlers list, she was "Banned" from watching it as a kid growing up in a Jewish household. I showed it her and as a result, am no longer considered a friend of the family, even though she was 19 at the time and a adult of sound mind. She now has a Bachelors degree in certain Biological discipline. Speaking of which, Darwin's theory, the most controversial argument besides that of any argument in politics. Has been frowned upon by the Christians for years, yet however, it makes perfect sense. I mean is it possible for God and Darwin to co-exist?
Lets face it, whether we let children read them in school or hold them at ransom from a book store, the more ignorant they will become.
If you don't like that oh well, it's my first amendment right to tell you that!
