The best filling foods for Weight Watchers members

The use of a filling foods list is what separates the current Weight Watchers Momentum Program from previous Weight Watchers programs. The Weight Watchers filling foods list is quite extensive and contains many vegetables, fruits, grains, starches, meats, cereals, fish and non-meat alternatives. These filling foods do just what their name implies, they fill you up. How they do this is important. They fill you up for only a few points, and that's an important way to keep you from feeling hungry. Although there are way too many to list here, I will give some of the more common examples of each.

Beans, which are high in fiber and are very filling, are found on this list. You can have black beans, kidney beans, green beans, fat-free refried beans, just to name a few. Most vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, corn and peas are also on the list as long as they are not cooked or topped with butter or margarine. On the other hand, vegetable juices are not considered filling foods.

Canned fruit that is packed in water is acceptable as is fruit canned in juice and drained. Again, like their vegetable counterparts, fruit juices are not considered filling foods and neither is dried fruit.

Whole grain cereals are good for filling foods as long as they don't have any added sugar. If you prefer cold cereal to hot make sure to use skim milk to get the benefit of a filling food. Even plain low-fat yogurt will work if you prefer it to milk.

If you love pasta, whole wheat pasta is the choice for a filling food. If you prefer rice or just want to mix it up, brown and wild rice will do the trick.

Lean cuts of beef that are loin or 93% lean ground beef are considered filling foods. Cold cuts are not considered filling foods, as they are processed meats. The same goes for hot dogs. In addition to beef, chicken without the skin and turkey are good choices for filing foods, as are canned varieties of fish, packed in water, broth or tomato juice.

Snacks are always important and such things as cherries, popcorn and even quacamole can make filling snacks. If you want to eat lean protein, such as a chicken breast without the skin, that is a good selection also. Low fat yogurt with slices of bananas and string cheese with whole wheat crackers is another good option.

In addition to the types of foods listed above as filling foods, such things as salsa, salad greens, tomatoes and tomato paste also make good choices for filling foods. There are so many choices for this type of food; the Weight Watchers Momentum Program makes it much easier to succeed at weight loss. It doesn't seem possible that someone could get bored with the program.

Even if you don't have much weight or any weight to lose, this program seems like the ideal way to just eat healthy. With a few changes in the way we eat, the Momentum Program can change how we feel and hopefully put us on the track to a healthier, more enjoyable lifestyle. Because as it is sometimes said, "You are what you eat."
