Electric guitar buying guide for beginners

When you decide you want to buy a new electric guitar, there are several steps for choosing the best one for you. The first step is do lots of research. Find out what brands of guitars you like. Do you want a new guitar? Or do you want used guitar? What music do you like? These are all things to take into consideration. Once you have done some research on guitars, it is now time to take a trip to a guitar store. Usually it is better to go to a big guitar shop, instead of little "mom and pop" guitar store for several reasons. The first reason is that big name guitar stores usually have what you are looking for. They often have a much bigger selection than small family run places. The second reason is that big name shops oftentimes have sales, or special offers. Sometimes they even offer a warranty and you can usually return your instrument if you do not like it.

After you have decided what store you want to go to, it is time to find the perfect instrument. The best thing to do is usually go into a store with a price point. If you don't, this often leads to an impulse purchase. While you are in the store, try out as many guitars as you can. Check how they sound, how they feel, and how they look. Try many different guitar settings by changing the pickup combinations. You might be surprised by how might different sounds you can get from one guitar. Once you have played as many guitars as you can, narrow your desicions down to two or three different guitars. Try out each one again. Check the prices of each one, do they meet your budget?

Once you have selected your favorite keep it at the store. It is important to do this because there oftentimes might be a price drop on the guitar. Some stores will even let you reserve the guitar. Once you are ready to buy your guitar, you should choose your payment option. Some stores have different payment options like lay away, which lets you pay a little bit at a time. Congratulations! You have just bought a guitar! If this is your first guitar, go home and start learning right away. Get lessons, search for tabletures, or search on websites for how to play. Playing guitar is a very rewarding experience. Remember that the key to playing guitar is practice, practice and more practice.
