Docking a dog's tail is not done with cruel intention. Taking the tail off of a dog like this helps to prevent health issues. Also, a dog usually gets it's tail docked when it is a puppy about two to five days old. It does hurt a little, but it is nothing that should be called animal cruelty. This procedure is nothing like a human losing an arm or a leg. Humans as a whole tend to hold onto things while dogs live in the moment and the past is not even important. Docking a dog's tail is done for many reasons. for one, many people who have hunting and gun dogs get their dog's tail docked. This keeps the tail from getting burrs and stickers stuck in it which can cause infection and irritation. Other issues occur in long haired dogs. There are lots of dogs out there who have longer hair on their tail and it tends to get matted with poop. also dogs with longer tails or longer hair on their tails can get their tail stuck in gates and fences when herding or playing. There are also people who dock their dog's tail for registering purposes or competing purposes. Some dogs are not allowed to be registered because they have the long tail. Then there are dogs that may have suffered an injury at some point in time and their tail does not even work anymore and the easiest way to cure this problem is to dock the tail.

I was reading an article about how tail docking was bad. That if God had wanted a dog's tail to be short then evolution would have bred it out a long time ago. For one, God and evolution do not go hand in hand and for two, there are dogs out there that are born with no tail. There are seventeen dog breeds, seven teen that are usually born with no tail. Two of these breeds are the corgi and the rottweiler. These dogs can have tails, but they are usually docked because the breed looks a little weird with a tail when so many of its kind is born without one. A dog will not hate you for docking its tail, it will not hold a grudge or glare at you on a daily basis. A dog does not care if you bathe it or brush its teeth. So why should it care if you dock its tail? The only thing you have to worry about giving your dog is exercise, discipline, food, water, and love.
