The best of 2009: Companies to work for

Although most people believe the car dealership is demising; put in an application at Ford Motors. They have made a turnaround as a result of the stimulus package that was given to them by the Government in early 2009. Not all dealerships survived; in fact, many went under and people were laid off, especially in Detroit.

If you enjoy sales; go on line or in person to submit an application to your local Wal-Marts or Targets. They are hiring. Initially you might have to be flexible to work varied shifts because they are open 24 hours. Many companies will put you on a list for your choice of hours if your performance is satisfactory or above average.

CVS Pharmacy (also referred to as CVS Caremark) is hiring clerical, pharmacists, and sales people, managers, nurse practitioners; to name a few. This is an excellent company to work for. Many people do not realize how large CVS is, so they negate applying there. CVS is located in 44 states (according to Info.cvscaremark.com/careers). They hire part-time and full-time personnel with a lucrative benefit package that includes a 40l-K plan as well as educational benefits. (These benefits have been cut out at most companies, so that is a signal that CVS is doing well). For those who prefer living in a sunny place all year round; there is a CVS in Hawaii as well. They are interested in college students. CVS is a wonderful company to work for because you can transfer from state-to-state while still having employment. Nowdays, that is a blessing!

Hospitals always have need for additional employees, and they always keep a listing because they need full-time, rotating, temporary, week-enders, etc. Because they are unlike other companies that can function if someone is absent; they have to know that they are always staffed. The most important thing about hospitals is the Human Resources Department might accept your application but tell you they are not hiring or do not have a position open at the time that includes your expertise; a week or so later you might get a call asking you to come for an interview because someone has moved, etc. They might ask you to fill in because someone is on maternity leave or has had surgery or a death in the family, etc. In some cases; you are offered a permanent position having covered for an absent employee.

Most cities have many hospitals; for example; Los Angeles' Cedar Sinai is an excellent place to work. It hires from security, orderly, nurses, managers, physicians, marketing, finance, legal, community relations, and even construction; to name a few. It also has a great benefit package and opportunities for advancement. You can also inquire on-line at cedarsinaimedicalcenter.apply2jobs.com. If you accept employment through Cedar Sinai; you can be proud because you will a part of an excellent company that employs over 10,000 staff and over 2,000 physicians. They believe in helping the community of Los Angeles through their endowment programs.

Atlanta, Georgia, is another city with hospitals being the number one form of employment. For example; Grady Hospital is a fine hospital there and provides great opportunities for internships as well as office staff, technicians, laborers, professionals, and para-professionals; to name a few. They recommend applications be done on-line at Gradyhealthsystem.org/careers. Their benefit package is competitive with 401K, life insurance, health plan after 30 days, and also a credit union, etc.

The aforementioned recommendations are just a sample of the best companies for 2009; although there are many more in your city; use these as recommendations for the types that are hiring.
