Fear is the most ancient and instinctive human feeling, company of our life even before we evolved from monkeys and it's common to all other animals, when they experience dangerous situations. Never to have fear is impossible; also the most trained person to self-control, used to practice dangerous sports or works like deactivating mines, mountain climbing, or the missions of the elite military corps, must always admit they feel fear too, when death passes very close to them. The problem, in fact, is not whether having fear or not, but how to control it, not letting it turn into panic. Just this makes us lose the mental control and all our thinking and choosing ability. Panic makes us tremble, sweat, it blocks our movements, make us shout for terror and commit a lot of mistakes just when the most we would avoid them.
Fear not always needs to become panic to stop and even damage us. This happens when we don't know what to do against a risk we feel as excessive for our possibilities and we are full of doubts.
At this point, without feeling any physical and nervous acute stress, we decide to stop in what we are making, sometimes, for a scarce faith on our possibilities. At that point, only sadness and delusion can be read on our face, instead of terror.
If we are not an insecure and coward person, quitting can be a wise decision because, when we realize to have reached our limits, fear tell us we must stop, like an alarm ring. On the other hand, it can be a bad decision that can damage us and other persons relying on us. It's very difficult to mark a clear separation between these situations and judge the others, especially, when danger is very high.
When, instead, we fear things that have nothing dangerous, like darkness in our bedroom, domestic pets and innocuous insects, fear becomes a psychological pathology that can have its origin in traumatic events of our childhood.
In the following years, these events seemed apparently forgotten but, in reality, they were only hidden in our subconscious, but ready to affect our behaviour until unchaining an automatic fear reaction in a way we cannot apparently dominate.
I'm not the right person to say how to cure this disturb that can make more difficult our life, but I know fear tends to disappear when we know well its cause, until it becomes easy to dominate and overcome it with calm and concentration.
The researchers working with dangerous snakes or animals in the wild, for example, surely make a dangerous work and they
