A friend invited me to play "Restaurant City" on Facebook in early October 2009. This often happens to me on Facebook. I'll check out a game and if I think I can play it in bits and pieces, that it will not consume much of my time, then I'll give it a try. So far, I have not been disappointed by this game though there are some things I hope they will improve. I'm also including a few tips for new players though I cannot claim to be an expert yet.
It's easy to get started in this game and you don't need to invest your own money to play though doing so wil speed up some of your achievements. Basically you get a little restaurant with a few tables and chairs, a few employees choosen from your list of friends, and generic dishes you can make. As you sell food you earn money, +2 per customer, and gourmet points that increase as you improve your dishes that you make and sell. You begin with the choice to sell one dish in each of three courses: Starter, Main, and Dessert.
As you play, your gourmet points determine your level but your money earnings determine what ingredients you can purchase. Ingredients, 3-4 of them are required to improve each dish you can serve. Every day you'll get one free ingredient, plus the ingredients you can buy in the market change and you have a chance to win an ingredient by answering a food quiz. However, the food quiz is quick so you have to either know the answer or make a good guess. If you get the answer wrong you simply do not get an ingredient but you also do not learn the correct answer. This is because the same question may show up on another day. I'm actually learning a few things as I miss a question and either look it up later or just wait until I get it correct.
Ingredients in the market can be very expensive so at level 16 you can start earning garden plots every other level through level 32. Planting produces random ingredients but it only costs 2000 coins and requires watering every 9 hours for 48 hours. In the long run this saves you money. Eventually you will be earn the right to serve drinks (at level 15) and you'll need to purchase a drink machine as well. You will also level up to 2 and then 3 dishes in each course. My advice is to pick three dishes you want to serve from the start and then focus on them. Or you could do as a friend does and just pick one dish but I find I get so many different ingredients I can level more often if I have some variety.
You can trade ingredients as well but so far all of my friends
