Masquerade

Hidden behind a mask, your identity you tightly conceal
Only you know who's inside and what you chose to reveal

Planning and manipulating, you strategize the course
Feeding me lines of deception, with very little remorse

Offering me words of what, you think I want to hear
Enticing me with your charm, pulling me in, to be near

Dancing with my feelings and you do it oh so well Calculating and devious, so I can't even tell

Following your leads, I naively go with the flow
All the time not knowing, it's a deceitful show

But time passes quickly and so much you revile
Caught up in all the lies, you believe them to be real

You see the glamour of your costume doesn't matter much to me
It isn't really important of colour, glitter or the shimmer that I see

The mask that you wear is just decoration, an illusion
You are a master of disguise is my only real conclusion

So dazzle someone else with the thread and sequins that you chose
Disappointing yes, but all knowing that in the end you will lose

Fore the clock has now struck twelve, as I hurry to leave this sham
Having some kind of empathy and sadness, that your life is one big scam

I'm glad I caught on and am able to bow out of this unveiling charade
As the hands of time has now reach the end of your delusional masquerade
