This is the third book in the series, and Becky and Luke are now living in New York and Becky has a fantastic job of a personal shopper in Barneys, at her Suze, her best friends wedding, Luke proposes, but then comes the question of where to get married. There is her home in Oxshott with her mother and friends in attendance, or the picture perfect wedding at the Plaza in New York with every one that's anyone in attendance. Becky decides to make her decision later (like usual) however when the times comes to tell the 'mother' where they are getting married, she just can't seem to make the decision and ultimately hurt Luke's mother or her own mother.
My Opinion
If you enjoyed the first book or even the film then you will love this one, it's not the best book in the series by far, but it was very enjoyable and like always it had me laughing out loud in places. As the characters are really quite established now, you feel yourself cringing when Becky walks into different shops and bless her struggles with not buying things.
This book is not as much about the Shopaholic thing as it is about the wedding and Becky's inability to say no and hurt people's feelings, this also leads to a lot of lies flying about, and Luke being the typical gentlemen keeps telling her he doesn't care what it looks like, as long as she gives him the time and the date of the wedding and he'll turn up, little does he know that is the problem Becky is facing.
The character of Becky in this book is a lot more lovable as she is a lot more established in this book, you do get the feeling that Becky's family and everyone around her is 'slightly stupid' as they fall for the weird things she does, and it does become far-fetched at times.
This is the weakest book so far, I didn't find it as compelling and as funny as the previous two. It was very good, but you will find yourself cringing a lot more at Becky's antics as they get even stupider and more far-fetched, and it does lose some of the charm that the previous books had.
However if you've read the previous two books, then you really have to carry on the series because so far, I'm half way through book four and am loving every minute of it. These are fantastic books and Sophie Kinsella's writing style is just brilliant, but I think a lot of her antics were just a little bit too far fetched and it made the book less believable.
Final Opinion
Expect a lot of laugh out loud moments within this book it really is a hoot, the book is well written and you will have a lot of fun when reading it. It is not as easy to read as the other books as you will find yourself cringing at her antics, otherwise the book is very good and it expands the series very well.
If you've read none of these books, then please check them out, there some of the best books I've ever read and Sophie Kinsella is just a fantastic writer. A good book, but could have been a lot better.
