What's new to read over the holiday season? Blockbuster novels from Dan Brown, Stephen King and many other popular writers are filling the shelves in time for Christmas. Check out these titles then head for the bookstore.
The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown: Fans of the intrepid Robert Langdon, Harvard symbologist extraordinare, who saved the Vatican and the bloodline of Jesus Christ in Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code, is once again drawn into a hunt for a deadly secret, solving puzzles with his usual flare, and expanding the reader's mind with amazing information. This time Langdon is in Washington, delving into secrets hidden for centuries. If you are an armchair academic with a penchant for puzzles, you will not be disappointed with Brown's latest thriller.
Under the Dome by Stephen King: This eagerly awaited November 2009 release is King's 48th novel under his own name. The prolific author also has been published on the name Richard Bach. Under the Dome is a rewrite of a novel started in the 80s, and has some resemblance to The Stand, one of his most popular novels. It is huge, with 1088 pages, and deals with some equally weighty issues. The town of Chester's Mill, in Maine, is suddenly sealed off by an invisible dome that nothing can penetrate. It sounds like a must read for King fans!
Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton: A new Michael Crichton novel is always exciting news. The author of Jurassic Park never disappoints with his fast paced adventures, and this one looks irresistible. Set in the Caribbean in 1665, it is a swashbuckling tale in the grand style, with bloodthirsty pirates, bawdy women and not a dinosaur in sight. But it is the perfect holiday reading if you love pirates, the high seas and tales of derring-do. Jack Sparrow look out - Captain Charles Hunter could be the greatest challenge of all to your popularity.
Last Night in Twisted River by John Irving: A richly detailed and engrossing Irving novel is a must for the holiday season. In his latest opus, Irving takes us on a journey through five decades in the lives of a 12-year-old boy who accidentally commits murder, and his father, as they go on the run from the law. Irving recreates the past from the 50s on to the present day in a rich panorama of history and personal rites of passage.
Breathless by Dean Koontz: Koontz fans will be desperate to get their hands on this one in November. Once again Koontz takes the reader between worlds and into a tale of mystery and enchantment with this complex novel involving several characters at a pivotal point in their lives.
Allo of these books can be bought and ordered from Amazon.
