Assessing the BDSM lifestyle

Many different aspects of sexuality exist today, and one of the most controversial is BDSM. In the alternate world of bondage, the term "BDSM" stands for bondage, domination, sadism and masochism. When most people hear this term, immediately images of an alternative sexual nature spring to mind, but this is not what true BDSM is all about.

A slave contract is a binding agreement between a dominant and their submissive who are into the BDSM lifestyle, to give over control to the owner of the slave contract. Contracts are normally limited to bedroom ownership but some can go as far as complete ownership. The slave, or submissive, willingly signs away the unconditional control of them self over to their Master or Mistress. In the world of bondage and BDSM, sometimes a slave contract is used to keep the slave, or submissive, as subservient to their Master or Mistress as possible. The primary duties of the slave, explained within the contract, are to respect and obey their Master or Mistress.

The slave contract contains promises of both the slave and the Dominant. and contains very little about sex itself. The owner of the contract promises never to act in any way that would bring physical or mental harm upon their slave. BDSM is about consensual acts of domination and power exchange; forced acts are never considered or committed in the true world of bondage. Power is never to be abused in any way. A true dominant will never punish their slave in anger, no matter what the scenario.

Sometimes the term "Master" or "Mistress" are not preferred for whatever reason. The title of the dominant can be replaced by any name, almost always a term of endearment like "Ma'am" or Sir", and are agreed upon prior to the beginning of the BDSM relationship. Likewise, the slave can be referred to as any other name that shows possession like "pet" or "kitten" and the like.

There are those are into what is called "Extreme BDSM". These are the pain freaks that are the extreme sadists that love inflicting pain upon others, willing or not. And the extreme masochists who will allow great harm to their bodies just to feel the adrenaline rush that the body goes through when in extreme pain. True BDSM is never carried this far because real harm is never a goal of a safe, sane and respectful owner. The slave contract clearly states that the owner of the contract will never harm the slave or try to cause undue pain. Pain is only a side-effect felt by a bad slave after punishment.

The BDSM relationship can be forfeited and the slave contract can be broken at any time by either verbal or written cancellation. Reasons can be anything from a lack of continuing interest in the BDSM lifestyle, too many responsibilities that give no real time for either party which is not fair to either party unless agreed upon by both in the beginning. The slave contract is merely a visual promise of your dedication to each other and your willingness to participate together in the BDSM lifestyle. A contract may be canceled without notice at any time if your are video taped without your knowledge or consent or if you believe that you, your family, or your privacy may be in some kind of real danger. Control should never be given to a possessive person or anyone that is mentally unstable; it will always lead to complications. Be safe and don't take any chances.
