Twitter is an amazing and awesome service. If you know what your doing. I'm sure the same question was on all of our minds the day we heard about. What the hell's a twitter? We all wondered that the first time we heard anything about it. However the concept behind it is a genius idea, and it can be used for many things.
You can use it as it was intended. Have all your friends and family sign up and communicate short messages through it to stay in contact. Which isn't easier than just using a phone, but it's fun.
You can use it to stay up to date on stars and entertainers who want to communicate with their fans. So it's a great way to personally interact with your favorite musician or move star.
It can be used to promote a business by tweeting deals, and news about your company and keep subscribing customers in touch about what's going on. Even tell them about certain events and contests.
You can set one up for your blog or website as a simple feedback spot. Get ideas. Share ideas, or even tell your readers about up and coming things to be posted on the site.
Twitter can be used for so many things. The possibilities it offers are endless. If you can think it. I'm sure you can do it on Twitter. Yeah it's not the best name and maybe that's why people think it's uncool. But what does it matter. It's a great service for staying directly connected with people. I also love how it's become a source for news and breaking news stories. To me that's one of the best things to happen to it. There are plenty of reliable sources you can follow to keep you updated to the minute about amber alerts, weather conditions, and breaking news stories. Or you can even use it as a community watch service. Let people in your community know what's going on when something happens. Report vandalism to people. I'm sure you can even use Twitter to find your car if it get's stolen.
It's an amazing service with thousands of uses for any situation at anytime of the day. Why someone would say it's uncool I don't know. I mean yeah you can email, send messages through Myspace, Facebook, and the other social networking sites. Yet Twitter is so much faster. In some cases at least. There is still the cell phone to call or send a text message. Or if a ground line is available there's that option. However if there's no cell service or a ground line to call. There's usually an internet connection to tweet someone.
Though I can't stress it enough. Twitter is just a really cool, super easy, and very friendly service. I don't see how some don't like it. I also like how there's no ads on the site. No pop ups that hassle you. You just sign up, sign in, and tell people what's on your mind. It's even got a block feature to stop unwanted people from harassing you, stalking you, or bombarding you with info you just don't want.
You can set your account to invite only. Where you have 100% control over who you talk to or who sees you. So it can be completely private between you and only those you choose.
The only thing I wish they would change about the service is the character count. There shouldn't be a real limit to what you can say. Some things just can't be said in only 140 characters, especially how spaces between words counts. That's about all they need to improve. Other then that. It's fully custom as to how your profile looks. Simple, and fun.
