I first learned the Rosary when I was ten years old, when we said it every night for a year.

First. you say the Apostles' Creed while holding the crucifix. Then you follow it with the Our Father, three Hail Marys, one Glory Be to the Father, and the following prayer which I learned from my late maternal grandmother: "Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, and save us from the fires of Hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy".

Then you start to say each of the Five Mysteries individually. The Mysteries of the Holy Rosary the are events in the lives of both Jesus and Mary. You announce each Mystery (ex: the first Glorious Mystery), say the Our Father on the large bead, ten Hail Marys on each of the small beads, the Glory Be, and the Oh My Jesus prayer. As you say each Mystery, reflect on what the mystery is all about. Here are the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary, and when to say them.

THE FIVE JOYFUL MYSTERIES (On Mondays,and during the Advent and Christmas seasons)

1. The Annunciation-where the Angel Gabriel came to Mary and announced that she was to be the Mother of God and God the Son: Jesus Christ.

2. The Visitation-where Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth. Mary was pregnant with Jesus and Elizabeth was pregnant with John the Baptist. It also says that John the Baptist leaped in Elizabeth's womb. (This story is found in Luke's Gospel.)

3. The Nativity-where Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. There was no room at the inn where Mary and Joseph had stayed at, and Mary was just about to deliver Jesus.

4. The Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple-where Mary and Joseph presented Jesus to Simeon.

5. The Finding of the Child Jesus in the Preaching to the Wise men in the Temple-When Jesus was 12, Mary and Joseph went to look for HIm, but found Him three days later, preaching to the Wise men in the Temple. When she found Him, Jesus said, "Why did you search for me? Didn't you know that I had to be about My Father's business?"

THE FIVE LUMINOUS MYSTERIES (on Thursdays. These mysteries were introduced and added by Pope John Paul II in 2002)

1. The Baptism of the Lord-Jesus is baptized in the Jordan River by John. Suddenly a loud voice occurred and said, "This is my Beloved Son on whom My favor rests. Listen to HIm.

2. The Wedding Feast at Cana-During the wedding feast, they ran out of wine. Mary went to Jesus and said "We have no wine." and Jesus said, "Woman my time has not yet come." Then Mary replied to the waiter, "Do
