Video game reviews: Chessmaster 2000 (DOS)

Chessmaster 2000 is part of a Chessmaster series and it is available on the DOS computer. It is a game that is based off the Chess game and can be very difficult. The computer is one that can be extremely difficult and can win but to become the Chessmaster, you have to beat the computer without fail. It can be utilized as an attempt to get better as a chess player. For those who are into playing this game, this could help. For this purpose, it is going to be this version.

There is no story to the game at all. All that you need to know is that there is one objective and that is to put the opposition king in checkmate. It is the only way to really win the game. The pieces are set up properly and also do not allow opposition pawns to come out and get to the other side. Most likely, everyone will go for a queen piece because of how powerful it is and can go everywhere.

Instead of talking about graphics, it is going to be focused on the types of situations in the game. The first one would be check. What that means is that the king is in trouble and has to be protected or get out of that position. Of course, there can be other pieces to protect the king piece from the pawn to a queen. That is about what will be left but it is not the end of a game.

Checkmate is the position necessary to win the game. It means that no matter what move can be made, it will result in a loss. That is the one item that must be obtained but not be easy in the sense that it can have one side have more pieces than the other and still lose. If you lose the queen, it can result in disaster.

Stalemate is where nobody wins. No legal moves can be made and no matter what happens, it is over. There isn't much else that could be added or said on that and that's just the way it is. It is the one mate that really is one that would be highly regarded as one that would not be recommended. The object is to win but it will happen every now and then. That is something that can happen even in real life.

The game play is simple and it involves using the mouse to move the piece. As long as the mouse is in good condition, it should be fine and generally responsive. It will move where it can legally.

In terms of overall, it is a solid game. You have to be a chess player to really get involved with it whatsoever. Only those who will play chess will play this most likely. There are different games in the Chessmaster series that upgrades over time and it is one that just continues to expand graphically but mostly using the same concept.
