Guide to Frog's techs in Chrono Trigger

A stern swordsman with a tragic past, Frog is as sophisticated with his tongue as he is with his blade. Both these elements make him quite an enjoyable character for most parties, even if he's not as good at dealing damage as some of the other characters.

The fact that he's a frog helps with his popularity, too.

Frog is a combination of sword strikes and water magic. Unlike other characters, however, his techs are rather varied; he's schooled in physical attacking, doing damage with water and healing, something most characters don't quite match (or not to the same degree, anyway). Consequently Frog can fill just about any niche role in a squad, but he won't do it quite as well as anyone else since his stats don't match up outside of speed. You're not likely to lose a battle because of Frog's deficiencies, but it'll be more challenging overall.

Frog's real strength lies in his combos. Where he fails and dealing tons of damage on his own, he works excellently in teams. As such his MP is probably best preserved for fighting with others. His techs are far from useless on their own, however, and when a teammate isn't available you can rely on Frog to pull his weight.

Slurp: A decent little healing move for a single character. Not terribly good and virtually worthless later on, but for the initial parts of the game Slurp can come in handy.

Slurp Slash: A decidedly more lethal form of Slurp that yanks over a single enemy and does slashing damage. Not bad, but it'll be badly outclassed by other moves later on.

Water: Frog's first spell, it does water damage to a single enemy. Not that great overall, though it'll serve a good enough purpose when fighting Magus the first time.

Heal: A useful spell when combined in a combo with something else, Heal restores a decent amount of HP to all allies. Combined with Robo's Heal Beam this gets really handy for rejuvenating your whole team.

Aerial Strike: Likely to be your primary attack-based tech, Aerial Strike takes Frog high in the air and brings him down hard on one enemy. Decent on its own and excellent in quite a few combos.

Water II: Another water spell that does more damage than the first and hits all enemies at once. Will make for some nice combo moves, but kinda weak alone.

Cure II: A great curative spell that will restore a ton of HP to one ally. A great alternative if you're out of items or Marle isn't in your party.

Frog Squash: An admittedly bizarre tech that hits every enemy on the screen with a giant, bouncing frog. Frog Squash does more damage the weaker Frog is, so don't bother using at the beginning of a fight.
