Wine cork crafts for kids

Wine corks are an unusual crafting material, which can be collected from friends or bought at craft stores. With them you can create lots of fun, unique gifts such as the following eight wine cork crafts for kids of all ages.

*Wine Cork Craft Stamps

Draw a simple design on the flat end of a cork. Use a craft knife, cut away the cork outside the design. You will then have a crafting stamp for scrap booking and making greeting cards. Simply dip the stamp into paint and stamp on the desired surface.

*Wine Cork Animals

To create animals you will need one large, one medium and four small corks. Glue the four corks onto the large cork to form the legs, cutting them short for say a pig and leaving them long for taller animals. On the opposite side, glue the medium cork for the head. Make tails with yarn or wire, eyes with beads and ears with card stock.

Dog-Cut long floppy ears from craft paper and glue on each side of the head.

Pig-Paint pink and use wire to make a curly tail.

Cow-Paint white with black spots and add the tip of toothpicks for horns.

Reindeer-Use pipe cleaners for antlers.

*Trivets

Save your counter tops from hot pan burns with a unique cork trivet. Cut the corks into one-half-inch rounds and stand them on the flat ends to form a circle. Trace the circle on a piece of cardboard to fit the circle and cover it with felt.

Place the corks on the circle and removing one cork at a time, apply a strip of hot glue down the side. Press the cork into place and hold firmly until the glue sets. Once all the corks are glued, apply glue to the felt covered cardboard and add a decorative border around the edge of the corks, such as jute, burlap or small river rocks.

*Coasters

Remove the glass from a small square picture frame. Cut one cork into one-quarter-inch rounds and glue onto the corners on the back of the picture frame for mar-proof feet. Cut the other corks in one-quarter-inch rounds and glue inside the picture frame. Another idea is to lay the cork rounds on their sides in a basket weave pattern.

*Zipper Pulls

Create a stunning zipper pull for leather and other jackets. Simply screw an eye-hook into each end of the cork and attach one end to the zipper tab. String beads, small feathers, buttons or charms and attach to the eye-hook in the other end of the cork before screwing it all the way in.

*Wine Cork And Bead Curtains

Small kids will need help from an adult making holes through the corks with a drill or nail and hammer. Once the holes are drilled the
