The prospect of coming up with a fabulous centerpiece for a Thanksgiving dinner table may leave many in a quandary. With a bit of creativity, resourcefulness, and a willingness to recycle things you likely already have, you can make some adorable Pilgrim centerpieces that will be the talk of the table.
You can create an adorable Pilgrim and have her carry a harvest platter simply by using an old condiment bottle and a few other supplies. You will be able to use this delightful Pilgrim woman year after year. You can also create a darling Pilgrim family by using the cardboard tubes that paper towels and toilet paper come on.
To create your Pilgrim family, you will need the following supplies:
*Scissors
*A craft knife
*Colored construction paper in black, white, yellow, brown and pink
*A black permanent marker
*Glue
STEP 1:
Using the craft knife, cut the cardboard into smaller pieces of varying sizes. Do this for however many members of the family you want to have. Then take the scissors and cut the ends so that they are completely smooth.
STEP 2:
Cut rectangles out of the black or brown construction paper to create the bottom part of your Pilgrim family member's body. Once you have done that, glue that onto the cardboard tube. Do this for each member of your Pilgrim family.
STEP 3:
Next, cut rectangles out of the pink construction paper to create the basic face and head of your family members. Glue the pink paper to the upper part of your tube. Once the glue is dry, you can use the black pen to create the eyes, nose and mouth.
STEP 4:
Take the white construction paper, and cut a rectangle out of that. Then cut a scallop in the front so that it looks like the collar. You will want to cut an opening as well. Then glue the collar onto the cardboard tube, just at the place where the pink and black cardboard meet.
STEP 5:
For your female Pilgrim family members, cut a smallish rectangle. Cut a scallop at the front of it to give it a more polished look. Glue this on to your Pilgrim women to create their apron.
STEP 6:
Give your Pilgrim hair by cutting a rectangle out of brown or yellow construction paper. Make slits at one end so that they look like strands of hair. Then glue the hair to each of the Pilgrims heads.
STEP 7:
For your Pilgrim women, cut a triangle out of the white construction paper and place it on each Pilgrim woman's head with the top point of the triangle facing the back. The other two angles of the triangle will form the tie for her bonnet. Glue
