A guy's guide to planning a first date

First dates are hard for everyone; for both men and women, since most of the time both are nervous.

There are the traditional dates; movie and dinner, but they have their share of problems. First of all, you can't talk in a movie so you are not able to get to know each other and there are a lot of women who get nervous eating in front of a guy for the first time. For the guy, do you really want to spend your money on dinner when the date is too nervous to do anything but pick at the food?

Why not try something really different that takes the pressure of both of you while giving the opportunity to have fun and get to know each other a little more? Since the traditional dates are movie and dinner, when you come up with something that is 180 degrees different, you start off with an advantage. The woman will think you are creative and she will feel special that you are doing something different.

So, what do you do? Listed below are some ideas that coming from a woman would really impress.

DAYTIME DATES

1. Switch the timing of the date and do it during the day. This is especially nice for the first date and if you pick something in the morning or afternoon you have the advantage of it flowing over to evening and even dinner.

2. If you both are athletic, a hike in the mountains, rock climbing or even bike riding. Maybe you have a special place that not many people no about that you can share with her.

3. The beach is fun if the weather is good but be careful, many women are uncomfortable being in a bathing suite with a guy before she is comfortable with the guy.

4. If the weather isn't great, what about indoor roller-skating or ice skating?

5. An amusement park, carnival or county fair is fun to do on a first date.

6. If you are near a vineyard, go wine tasting.

7. How about a class or seminar on something she is interested in? How impressed would she be if you asked her to go to a ceramics class for example if she mentioned she's always wanted to try it.

EVENING DATES

1. Take her to an art gallery opening.

2. A comedy club is great, you can see if she has a sense of humor

3. Play pool or go to one of the adult entertainment complexes like Dave and Busters.

4. Go dancing or take a dance class with her.

The list is endless, and if you are doing something you both enjoy or find interesting, the pressure will be off and you both can have fun and just maybe get another date for the traditional dinner.
