Why the first and best teachers are parents

While parents might not realize it they are the first teacher their child will have. This education process starts at the moment the child is conceived. A fetus is very aware of the emotions of the individual where they reside for nine months. They are taught love through the emotions a mother expresses as she caresses the baby within her. They learn the sound of not only the mother's voice, but the father and any other key individuals in their lives. Some parents chose to give their little one a head start in speech and vocabulary by reading to their unborn child and talking to them on a regular basis. Modern technology allows parents to educate the unborn child in the arts. By playing music through a variety of devices and the use of head phones unborn babies can develop an early love of music. Parents accomplish this by placing the head phones on the mother's abdomen allowing the unborn child to hear the music more clearly. Only the parents of a child can best communicate how much they love and care about their child.

The education process then continues after the child is born. Parents continually talk to the child which will enable them to talk as they grow. Reading continues and now images are introduced and the child is taught that words are connected with different things in their new world. This process continues and extends outside the home as well. As parents take their children out doors they educate the child more extensively to the world. Pointing at different things and telling the child what they are. Trips to the zoo educate them about the different animals we share our world with, where they come from, the food they eat and the noise they make. More trips out side of the home help to educate children as well. Due to the diversity of families the parent is the best choice to teach their child. This is especially true for American families where some households are bi-lingual.

However there is more to educating a child then just introducing them to the world around them. Parents also educate their children in proper and improper behavior which will enable the child to function in the society which they live in. They are taught about their family history, traditions and spiritual beliefs. Parents are the best teacher for this endeavor due to the fact that each family differs in these areas. Some children are taught how to operate the family business which only the parents can do. They are also taught how to do things for themselves such as tying their shoes, combing their hair to name a few. Being a productive household member is taught to children as they learn to wash dishes, clean their rooms, vacuum and more. Because living conditions differ for each house hold parents are responsible for making sure their child is able to help effectively. For instance if a family lives on a farm children will need to learn more than just how to vacuum a floor, their parents will be the best candidate for the job.

Parents are not only a child's first teacher, but also the best teacher. They know their child better than anyone else. They know their weaknesses and their strengths. Some parents even know how their child learns best, which is very important for the successful education of a child. Every parent wants their child to succeed and will help them do this however they can.
