Everyone is feeling the effects of the Credit Crunch this year, and with Christmas just around the corner, what better time to start stocking up on the presents for your friends and family! TV show DVDs are the perfect present for everyone, and with a huge variety to choose from, you really can't go wrong. With everything from kid's TV shows, to comedies, to drama series, there is something for everyone. 2009 has been a fantastic year for television in itself, so why not choose your loved one's favourite TV show and get shopping! Let's take a look at some of the best TV show DVDs from this year.

The Sarah Jane Adventures

This television show is a spin-off of the popular drama Doctor Who. Originally a series on children's channel CBBC, The Sarah Jane Adventures is popular with young and old Doctor Who fans alike. Sarah Jane Smith is was the sidekick to the famous Doctor Who, and this series follows the adventures she encounters during her investigation. As I said earlier, this show is very popular with young and old fans of Doctor Who, and great news, the second series has just been released on DVD! This DVD would make an ideal present for any child Doctor Who fan or any adult fan come to that. The three disc set features twelve full length episodes from the full series, as well as special extras including a gadget glossary, quizzes, and photo gallerys among others.

Scrubs, The Complete 8th Season

Scrubs is a hugely popular medical sitcom. The DVD of the latest season has just been released and is set to be a huge hit for Christmas 2009. It follows the mishaps and day to day lives of the doctors and nurses at Sacred Heart hospital. This series brings in some new faces as well as some of the most popular characters to date including JD, Turk, Karla, Elliot and Doctor Cox, not forgetting, of course, the infamous Janitor. The eighth season is packed with eighteen hilarious episodes that will have you clutching your sides laughing. This two disc DVD, which is also available on Blu-Ray, will make a great Christmas present for any comedy fan young or old, it would be particularly popular for the older teenagers.

Family Guy-Something, Something, Something, Dark Side

This DVD is not due to be released on DVD until December the 22nd, but it is set to be a massive hit. Something, Something, Something, Dark Side, is the sequel to the hugely popular Family Guy episode Blue Harvest. It features a parody of Star Wars as seen by the hilarious Griffin Family.
