A Weight Watcher's meeting holds a number of benefits for people trying to stick to a weight loss regime. It helps you keep a check on yourself and get a number of new ideas and suggestions for healthy eating habits and recipes.
Meetings are held at various times during the week and you can choose one that fits into your schedule. You can go in the morning, evening or afternoon, whatever works best for you.
They weigh you in at the beginning of every meeting. Now this is very helpful, since it enables you to set goals for yourself and keep tabs on how well you are doing at following through. If a school going child knows that she will be tested every Thursday in Math, she'll study for it every week. If you know you're going to be weighed every Thursday, you'll work towards keeping your weight low every week. Of course, the weigh-in is confidential, but nobody is a better judge of your own progress than you are, because nobody knows better than you do, how strong willed you are at controlling temptation, how regular you are at your exercise routine, and how fast or slow your natural body metabolism is.
The meetings have discussions which you can just listen to, or actively participate in, whichever way you like it. They help you learn how to eat healthy and beat temptation, how to customize your eating plan to suit your individual needs, and get information from nutritional experts. The interactive discussion enables you to learn how others are doing things differently and what they've tried and what works well and what gives results slowly. You know you're part of a group working towards a common goal, so that you know that you are not alone. You can see what other people have achieved and how they have been able to do it. You meet people with similar lifestyles and schedules, similar concerns and worries, and they become your friends. In some ways, they help you and you help them.
Just the fact that you have to go to a meeting each week reminds you that you have a weight loss goal to achieve and a healthy eating plan to stick to. It reminds you that you have a leader and a group of friends who are there to offer support whenever you need some, whenever you find yourself losing the motivation to carry on.
