We spent three days in Gahanna. Our hotel served a very skimpy breakfast so we went into town looking for a place to have some real food. We had passed the Creekside several times and it looked like a good place to eat. The location is indeed beside a river or a creek; it is located right next to the bridge.
The one disadvantage of this restaurant is parking. It is a little difficult to find. You have to go through the Wendy's parking lot to get to some town parking. Resist the temptation to park at Wendy's, they have signs everywhere saying they will have you towed, why tempt fate.
We walked toward the restaurant from the parking lot along the creek; there is a patio where you can eat outside in the warm weather. We were there in October and it was chilly and rainy and rainy and chilly, not the type of weather for eating outside.
We were greeted as soon as we entered the door and sent to a booth along the creek side of the room. They have a very extensive breakfast menu for such a small place, it is quite small may it has seating for 50 max. There were a few people in there when we arrived; it was late really for breakfast about 11am on a weekday.
The menu offers simple and quite complex choices. There are frittatas which surprised me and eggs Benedict and that Southern favorite sausage gravy and biscuits. They offer a nice selection of three egg omelets, corned beef hash and breakfast burritos. If you are looking for starch they have buttermilk or multigrain pancakes, Belgian waffles and three kinds of French toast. A very impressive menu. If you want something a little healthier they have a yogurt parfait and homemade oatmeal.
It took some thinking for us to decide but we all went simple with the Traditional Breakfast. We all ordered two fried eggs with toast, sliced fried potatoes and bacon. It was quite a feast. They offer white, whole grain, rye, sourdough, raisin, cinnamon or Texas. We had rye, whole grain and raisin and they were all good.
The eggs were perfect, the potatoes tasty, the bacon crispy and the toast good. It was a very substantial breakfast and we were please with it. The coffee was good and we got several refills. Service was friendly and we never felt neglected. I would not hesitate to eat here again if I am ever in the area.
