Poetry: Everything is not what it seems

I gave you my heart -

So vibrant you seemed!

I wasn't suspecting

Deception and greed.

I gave you my soul:

I thought you were wise

Your spirit amazed me...

You fed me sweet lies.

My judgement impaired-

You had me so fooled!

I saw you as fair,

And valiant, and good...

So was it true love?

No, love doesn't hurt,

Or don't you remember

The tales we were told?

The prince, and the castle,

A passionate kiss...

Confessions and oaths,

Then... years of bliss.

'Guess I was mistaken:

There was none of that...

I hope, maybe someday,

I'll find my true love.
