Many years ago, every place is a safe place to live. People cared so much about each other that they tried to avoid hurting each other. They helped each other in times of need without thinking if they were going to be paid or not. People camped along the road if their car had broken down without fear of being massacred while they were asleep. They traveled at night with no worries that haunted them. In short, people trusted every place as a safe place to go and also to live.
Of course, there were also crimes being committed, but it was not as rampant as it is today. Today, even young people who are educated in good schools and who received a good rearing at home are often involved in heinous crimes. They do the impossible because of drugs and peer pressure. They only realize how despicable the crimes they have committed if they sober and look at the damage they have done to others.
Every year, the crimes committed increase in number. As the lifestyle changes, more and more people commit crimes because of the pressure that the modern life is giving them. Only those who live a simple life could resist the temptation to go against moral standards just to obtain the material things that they long to have. Without the greed for material things, there is no reason for a person to get involved in a crime.
Even nature seems to be reaping the product of man's abuse of nature. Massive floods, tidal waves, landslides, drought, forest fires and other disasters had been occurring recently in all parts of the world. And when nature turns its wrath to people, it doesn't choose what to hit. Poor and rich, young and old, there are no exceptions. Nature also does not choose a place that it will victimize.
This world seems to be getting worse with the drastic changes in technology and the economic problems that is hitting every country. With these problems circulating around, committed crimes are becoming more and more everyday because people are looking for means to cope with the worsening life situation.
This world of ours is getting smaller everyday and finding a safe place to live is also becoming harder. There comes a time when there is no more safe place in this world to live. Whether it is about people or animals that might hurt you or whether it is about natural calamities that will suddenly leave you homeless, there is no more safe place to go for safety. Although there are still many people who care about others, you could only count them with your fingers. This means that you should always guard your back wherever you go because there might be snakes lurking around or you could drown in your own yard. Wherever we are living, we should always be careful to make ourselves safe from harm.
