Book reviews: The Testament, by John Grisham

This book started out with the narrator, Troy Phelan, expressing his views of his family members and whom he took out of his will. He also told about the different wills he tossed out and the new wills he made.

I liked the way the book started because it grabbed my attention immediately. I wanted to keep reading, so I could find out what was going to happen with the elderly man and his will.

Some of the family members wanted to protest the will because they didn't approve of the results. He didn't care how they felt because he was going to do what he wanted with his will. Troy Phelan was 83 years-old and a very rich man.

When Troy and his lawyer met with the members of the family and their lawyers, he said this is his will, and he signed it and sealed it in an envelope. After that, he handed it to his lawyer and stood up out of his wheelchair and rushed to the door and opened it. This was the first time in years that anyone has seen him out of his wheelchair and walking quickly. He jumped over the terrace railing and fell to the ground. Josh Stafford, Troy's lawyer, and Snead, Troy's long time assistant, witnessed the fall. Nobody could believe that Troy, who was considered a sane person, committed suicide. Troy also claimed that he had a cancerous brain tumor, but did he?

Later on, Josh Stafford read over the will and couldn't believe what he read. He was shocked by what Troy Phelan wanted to do with his money. He also didn't know about this one particular statement about another member of his family. Nobody knew about the other daughter and her mother. He read it over a several times in order to comprehend the contents of the will. He also couldn't reveal the contents of the will until the specified time mentioned in the will.

All of his children and his three ex-wives wanted to know what portion of the inheritance they received, but did they receive anything? Now, you'll have to read the book to find out what happened and who received the inheritance.

As I continued to read, I had trouble putting it down. I was intrigued by the plot and wanted to know what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is intrigued by legal thrillers.
